...thrillingly angular guitar music

05 September 2004

The 2 July gig at the The Man On The Moon was Dave Morris's last appearance behind the drumkit for the dEAD eCHOESDave has decided that it is time to move on.  Guy, Tom and Tim wish him all the best and thank him for being great for the past 5 years!  The band have wasted no time, and are proud to announce that James Wreathall has been appointed new drummer.  The dEAD eCHOES are currently rehearsing at their own Tallow Room Studio and things are working out well.  Expect lots of new material and more gigs in the autumn.

The dEAD eCHOES are formed around the talents of Tom Kendon, Guy Henderson, Dave Morris & Tim Glasswell.  Aware of the need to experiment and to challenge, these four ex-members of my friend irma believe that 2004 is the right time for something new and different.  They have proven long lasting talent and a real potential that sets them apart from the usual rock treadmill.

A deliberate, high energy power-driven sound is the foundation of The dEAD eCHOES' style.  This is thrillingly angular guitar music, combining new-wave post-punk principles of simplicity with coherence and melodic sense.  Think The Velvet Underground crossed with The Strokes with detours via Tarantino & James Bond and you are nearly warm.

Indications of things to come appear on their current 4 track demo CD.  The songs are very well-written, and equally well-captured on tape, blending simple but powerful musical enthusiasm with clever lyrical subtleties.

Loud quick bursts (the lead track Damo Suzuki) rumble alongside longer, more thoughtful tracks (the soaring Alice in the Headlights).  Your speakers have never had such abuse, and it's beautiful...

This is the start of good things... Long live The dEAD eCHOES
